Fine Art Conservation & Restoration Services

Conservation and restoration services may be essential to maintaining or improving the value of your beloved works of art. Invest in the posterity of your most treasured possessions.

Conservation includes the examination, documentation, stabilization, and preventive care of works of art.

Restoration is the act of returning the appearance of a work of art to a state as close as possible to that which the artist originally intended.

The condition of a piece of art affects its overall value; works of art in poor condition are at a higher risk for further damage. Our conservation and restoration services are supported by extensive research and knowledge of current practices.

Whether evaluating single items or entire collections, we at MIR Appraisal Services:

  • Work in conjunction with qualified art conservators who are academically and/or museum-trained in conservation science, and have provided services internationally for the finest museums and conservation facilities.
  • Provide museum-quality conservation and restoration of artwork including, but not limited to, works on canvas, panel, masonite, and paper in several mediums including:
    • Paintings: Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Gouache, etc.
    • Drawings: Pastel, Charcoal, Graphite, etc.
    • Prints: Etchings, Woodcuts, Lithographs, Serigraphs, etc.
    • Sculptures: Stone, Ceramic, Marble, Wood
  • Adhere to a strict code of ethics as we determine the necessity and cost-effectiveness of conservation and restoration services. We will serve as your advocate as we address the following concerns:
    • The appropriateness of conservation and restoration services for your particular work of art—Will service costs incurred be a pragmatic investment in the piece?
    • The feasibility of conservation and restoration—Is there risk of further damage to the piece during restoration services, even those services performed by a qualified,
      professional conservator?
    • The various treatment options for the work of art under consideration—What are the proper steps to take in moving forth with conservation and restoration services?

Note: We do not provide commercial conservation & restoration services.
